Fighting to create good-paying jobs

The hard-working men and women of West Michigan have the skills, work ethic and experience that our state needs to move forward. Mary supports a plan that gives priority for economic development projects to companies that employ the most Michigan workers. She will continue working hard to attract 21st century job providers in the fast-growing fields of renewable energy and life sciences.

Strengthening education

As a retired educator, Mary understands the importance of a high-quality education. One of the best ways to move Michigan forward is to create the best-educated workforce possible. Mary worked to ensure schools have the money to hire additional teachers, reduce class sizes and distribute necessary resources for our schools. She will continue working to give all children access to a top-notch education and make sure everyone can afford to go on to college or trade school.

Protecting our natural resources

Michigan is a beautiful state with incredible natural resources. We must do everything we can to preserve these assets for future generations. Our three biggest industries –agriculture, manufacturing and tourism – all depend on having healthy Great Lakes. Mary will keep fighting against companies from siphoning our water and shipping it out-of-state for profit. She will also continue working to put a stop to out-of-state and Canadian trash that threatens our land, air, water and quality of life.

Increasing Access to Health Care

Too many of our residents have to get by without health insurance. Many more have some insurance, but not enough for quality care to be affordable. Meanwhile, the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs is outrageous. Mary will continue to fight to increase access to health care for everyone in our community.
